Tambudzai Magwenzi, 24

With an honors degree in women and gender studies, Tambudzai Magwenzi is passionate about supporting the sexual and reproductive rights of young people and women, with a special focus on the impact of HIV. “In Zimbabwe only 8% of the young people get tested, even though more than 35% are affected or infected.”

Tambudzai is working for a stronger response in her community and beyond. “The global fight against HIV and AIDS has become an important concern regardless of country borders, religious beliefs political standings or social class. I would like to play an integral part in enacting change when it comes to addressing HIV and AIDS as well as TB.”

An experienced youth volunteer in sexual & reproductive health and rights, Tambudzai’s most recent role in advocacy was at the SAT4YOUTH YouthQuake Leadership Conference in Johannesburg. She has also co-authored a publication on how the Sustainable Development Goals and sexual reproduction health rights across Africa relate to youth advocacy work.
